What a day!

*Saw Sister Vaterlaus at the Temple.
* Took a test
*Went Ice Skating and totally biffed it.
*Went Shopping for food. {Got some yummmy homemade salsa}
*ran into old friends.
*got a phone call {From my happy thought}
*gonna get to bed early....

Good night World!

Temple!!

So....today after my dance class I wanted to go to the temple to go and do initiatorys before I went to my next class which was geology. So I made it over to the temple. I decided to sit outside and read my scriptures for a while outside while enjoying the sweet spirit of the temple and people watch. I became immediately overwhelmed when I saw a whole {army it looked like} of missionaries walking up in their black suits towards the temple. To think that in less than 2 short months that was going to be me! Only in a dress of course :)
*******

After I was finished I decided to finally go inside. {after all it was freezing}. So I checked in and proceeded to go and do initiatory's. They then informed me that there was about a 45 minute wait.... I was now no longer able to do this, because I had class in 45 minutes and would miss my class. I then asked if I could go to the celestial room, however they told me that I had to do an ordinance first. So I did not want to leave the temple just yet so I went and sat in the waiting area and pulled out my scriptures out to start reading again.

Right as I began reading my scriptures I looked up only to see Sister Clare Vaterlaus herself!
AHhhh I jumped up with joy and said, "Sister Vaterlaus"! We both embraced each other in the tightest hug ever! I thought I was going to pop with joy,excitement,happiness ...etc. We both began crying with joy. We embraced as we said to ourselves that we could not believe it! I can not explain to you how HAPPY and full of Joy that I had at that moment.
{ I can only imagine how a mother feels to embrace her son after serving an honorable 2 year mission is like, I imagine something a little like that x 10}

I then asked if we could go and take a picture outside, since her session had not started yet and I was just leaving. She then asked her companions and they watched as we both walked outside to take a picture. The lady that took her picture looked a little puzzled as I did not have a missionary name tag on. Sister Vaterlaus said, " I saw my BEST friend I had to take a picture with her" haha love her!

We then embraced once more with parting words I love you! Man I love that girl.

Dear Sister Vaterlaus,
You are making such an incredible missionary! I look up to you so much. New York is so lucky to have you as a missionary. I will be joining you in wearing that black name tag real soon... and I CANT WAIT!!
Love you,
Kait {Soon to be Sister Gray}

MY mission Call!

I wish I could re-live this moment....
over and over again :)

Scripture for The day!

It seems like scriptures always seem to come at the RIGHT time and in JUST the right Moment.

I was pondering today while sitting in Devotional listening to the choir and praying that the spirit would give me comfort and that the scriptures I was about to read would give me comfort. We call these " Pick me Up" Scriptures in Mission Prep!
Scriptures to keep you going..

So here is MY pick me up scripture for the day!

Doctrine and Covenants 100:8-13
8And I give unto you this promise, that inasmuch as ye do this the aHoly Ghost shall be shed forth in bearing record unto all things whatsoever ye shall say.
 9And it is expedient in me that you, my servant Sidney, should be a aspokesman unto this people; yea, verily, I will ordain you unto this calling, even to be a spokesman unto my servant Joseph.
 10And I will give unto him power to be mighty in atestimony.
 11And I will give unto thee power to be amighty in expounding all scriptures, that thou mayest be a spokesman unto him, and he shall be a brevelator unto thee, that thou mayest know the certainty of all things cpertaining to the things of my kingdom on the earth.
 12Therefore, continue your journey and let your hearts rejoice; for behold, and lo, I am with you even unto the end.
 13And now I give unto you a word concerning Zion. aZion shall be bredeemed, although she is chastened for a little season.

The scriptures are truly amazing if we will just read them and actually think about ways that they can be applied to us in our lives. I am SO thankful for the written word and the power that the scriptures give. The lord is mindful of ALL of us. He knows our hearts and our desires, he knows what is best for us in life, and in fact he knows us even better than we know ourselves.

So why not trust in him and pray when we have answers. {The thing that I love about prayer is that he is ALWAYS there and is always going to listen and never will he ever put us on hold}

My Savior is MY best friend and I know that with him I can do ANYTHING that he asks me to do. I love my savior and know that he died for me, so that I might be able to return to live with him again. I love this gospel so much and my savior, and know that I am ever eternally in debt to him. I love this Gospel!

Today

Today we were learning about how important the words of the prophets are. I think that sometimes we get so caught up in reading out of the Book of Mormon, New Testament, Pearl of Great Price..etc that we do not always pay attention to what the prophet said 6 months ago in general conference. I want to start reading a conference talk everyday or at least listening to them, because the words of the modern day prophets are so important. They are receiving revelation for Our people in Our day! Today I would like to focus on the words of President Uchtdorf. He is such an incredible man, and the talk that I would like to focus on is called Of things that matter most

"If life and its rushed pace and many stresses have made it difficult for you to feel like rejoicing, then perhaps now is a good time to refocus on what matters most."

In this talk he gives an example of professional pilots when flying a plane and all of the little things that they need to be ready for and to prepare for in case of emergency.

{What do you suppose pilots do when they encounter turbulence? A student pilot may think that increasing speed is a good strategy because it will get them through the turbulence faster. But that may be the wrong thing to do. Professional pilots understand that there is an optimum turbulence penetration speed that will minimize the negative effects of turbulence. And most of the time that would mean to reduce your speed. The same principle applies also to speed bumps on a road.} ~ Elder Uchtdorf

He then talks about The Pace of our Modern Life

Sometimes we get caught up in the big things in life that we seem to forget what is really important. There are some times where we think that we do not have time for those {little things}
being: reading our scriptures, saying our morning and night prayers, {along with litle prayers throughout the entire day} I don't know how I would survive if it was not for those little prayers that I saw almost constantly.
Making sure that we take time out of our week to go to the temple.

I know that sometimes we think that we do not have time for these things. but I PROMISE you that if you put the lord first you will be blessed and that you will have time for everything else.

For example today I decided instead of trying to read my scriptures late at night when I am half falling asleep I decided to wake up early and read them.
I found that I made it to class early instead of barely on the nick of time. I also found that I was able to accomplish THAT much more in the morning. { I even had time to pack myself a nutritious lunch} I was also able to understand and get a LOT more out of my scripture study in the morning, and better apply the scriptures to my own life. {1st Nephi 19:23}

It is so amazing to me how much the lord can truly can help guide us to become the Kings and Queens that we truly have the potential to become if we will just but let him shape us.

He continues...
Elder Dallin H. Oaks, in a recent general conference, taught, “We have to forego some good things in order to choose others that are better or best because they develop faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and strengthen our families.”

Honestly what it comes down to is putting the lord first!

I promise you that when you do this that EVERYTHING else will fall into place!

Sometimes we get caught up in the gospel being complicated but really the Gospel is SIMPLE!

It is founded upon the basic principles and ordinances of the Gospel.

1. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

2. Repentance

3. Baptism by Immersion

4. Laying on of Hands of the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

Lastly along with that..

5. Enduring to the end.

***************

I want to challenge you all to gain a stronger relationship with your Heavenly Father and Jesus

Christ. He is

Always there for us NO MATTER WHAT. You can pray to him anytime of the day and anywhere.

He loves you MORE than you could or ever can imagine, for his love is infinite. He knows

EXACTLY what each and everyone of us is going through at this time in our lives.

I am so thankful for a Loving Heavenly Father who has given us this beautiful gospel for it truly is wonderful.

I know that my redeemer lives!

"Strength comes not from frantic activity but from being settled on a firm foundation of truth and light. It comes from placing our attention and efforts on the basics of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It comes from paying attention to the divine things that matter most." ~ Elder Uchtdorf

5 year old needs a job before getting married - funny!

                                      PLEASE just watch this! haha It will make your day :)

Quote for the day!

“Everybody in this life has their challenges and difficulties. That is part of our mortal test. The reason for some of these trials cannot be readily understood except on the basis of faith and hope because there is often a larger purpose which we do not always understand. Peace comes through hope.”

Guess who I get to see tomorrow?!?!

You guessed it!!!! Sydney is coming!!
and
I
Cant
WAIT!!

She is coming to Watch Ali and I in the BYU Lu'au and then we are going to party afterwards! Oh how I have missed this girl. We have so much fun together as you can see from our pictures. And sometimes we even get a little bit crazy :)

This week is going to and has been WONDERFUL!

Future Missionary?

Why not be one now? :)

There are so many of us that think that in order to do missionary work we have to be called to serve on a full time mission. wrong!    You can do missionary work everyday! We just have to "open our mouth" and talk to people everyday. Try it!
*****
So...today I was walking home from the Richards Building....and I thought to myself why not try to ask someone for a ride :) It was one of my favorite things to do while in Hawaii and I thought why not try it here? { Don't worry I just ask people here at BYU that I see  walking to their cars} Its one of my favorite ways to make new friends! Plus it was SUPER windy and started to rain, and its no fun being soaked! So I began walking and looking for anyone who was walking towards their car. No luck. I thought about even putting my thumb up? hmmm no no no! Ok so I saw this guy walking my direction. I then asked him if he was driving home? he kindly then apologized and said no. I was almost out of the parking lot and right when I began to give up and just walk home. Just as I did that same guy came back to me and asked me if I needed a ride home. I said that I would LOVE that! So I ended up walking and talking to him and getting to know his background. Turned out he was actually from Arizona! Small world.

I then began talking about how I was going to serve a Mission in New York New York Spanish Speaking. { I think thats all I talk about lately} haha anyways then I proceeded to ask him if he had served a mission. He then said " Actually I am one of that small percentage here at BYU who is not a member"! Boy I was SO full of excitement and Joy I couldn't even contain myself :) I said ," oh really? what brought you here to BYU?" He then told me that he was looking for a really good business school and that he found it! Here! He then told me that people often ask him if it was a big adjustment or change to follow what we call the "Honor Code" He then said no. Because when he was in High School he surrounded himself with members. I said that was so great, that he didn't have to lower his standards but that he could hang out with people who have his same standards.

I then asked him if he had ever thought about becoming a member? He said, " Yes I actually came quite close my freshman year". I then asked him what stopped him. He said that he did not have the best feeling about it and that it just was not the right time. He also said that just because he did not then, does not mean that he is still not open to it, but that he was still open to it. I then asked him if he had read the Book of Mormon? I was actually SHOCKED when he told me that he had read it 4 times already! WOW! I then asked him if he had taken upon him Moronis Challenge in Moroni 10:4-5? He then said yes! I asked him what he felt? He said that he did have a good feeling about it at first but then after that he began to have bad feelings. I then explained to him that those "bad feelings" that he was talking about were coming from Satan! Because Satan does not want us to come to know of the truth. He agreed. I then asked him if he would start reading the Book of Mormon again. He said Yes and that he was ready to read the book of Mormon again! :)

We then talked about our true purpose in this life. I began talking and asked him if he knew what a Patriarchal blessing was? He said that he did. And I told him that if I ever was feeling down that I would read through mine and it helped me realize how much potential that I have in this life and that my Heavenly Father has so much in store and planned for me in my life. He then told me how he WISHED that he had his own patriarchal blessing. I also talked to him about it is SO neat how if we ever have ANY question in our lives that we can turn to the Book of Mormon and scriptures for the answers. For they really have the answers to ANY question. { 2nd Nephi 32:8-9}

He then told me about an experience that he had with President Ucdorf and how he was able to sit in a room with him onetime. { Alright now THAT is cool} haha I then got his contact information and told him that it would be really neat to keep in touch with him, and I told him that I would LOVE to hear about any updates. As we approached my apartment I then asked him if he was going to go to Devotional tomorrow? He said that he had not thought about it. I then asked him if he would be interested in sitting with me. He accepted!

I could not be HAPPIER! Missionary experiences are ALL over the place. I love that there are people put in our pathways JUST for us. All that we have to do is "open our mouths" and the lord will help us.

There are missionary experiences just waiting for us.

Even at BYU! :)

Tres! Tre! Trois! Drei! Three :)

Tres mas dias :) Yo puedo hacerlo!

Sydney comes tomorrow I can't wait!!!!
